Started at the beginning of 2012, Jennifer and I made two squares each every month for a year. One was to keep, one to send by snail mail to each other. By the end of the year we had 24 squares each, half made by ourselves the other half made with love and as a sign of our friendship. Despite never meeting, our friendship across the sea is strong and has seen us through times both happy and sad. We talk regularly thanks to the wonders of FaceTime and write the old fashioned way too. Now after another year of stitching and with a sore finger from all that hand quilting, I have a lovely reminder of our friendship to wrap myself in when things get tough and a dream that one day she will be able to sit under it with me while we enjoy a face-to-face chat and a big mug of tea!
