Todays stash busting sees the return of an old friend...my never ending crochet blanket. Those of you who have been visiting here for some time might remember that I had decided to call my blanket a scarf and to give up on it ever covering a bed...this weekend I reconsidered, partly because I have never worn it as a scarf and partly on discovering the 40 plus balls of cotton yarn I had hidden in an old suitcase...please don't tell me that never happens to you! With all the crochet I have been doing along with Blair at Wisecraft, I have got my rhythm back and I was inspired to dig this old project out and carry it on in a slightly different way. The pattern I had been following was beautiful but took some thinking about and it was always necessary for me to have the book to hand to jump start my memory. I was inspired by all those granny squares to start adding to it in clusters of 3 DC (Trebles), which makes life much easier and the hooking much more repetitive (a great project for movie watching or sitting in the car) I am ignoring all the rules and doing the return rows back to front but as it is only for me to use I really don't care if it conforms or not. Only four rows done so far (it is very, very long) but one ball of cotton is already finished and hopefully I will persevere through the other 39!
Now to the giveaway...while hunting through old suitcases this weekend I also came across these 5 unused balls (and some partly finished ones too) of Debbie Bliss pure cotton that were left over from my February Lady sweater. I was holding on to them with the plan of making something else but actually I think I will pass on the matching hat and scarf set...so, if you can think of something to do with this gorgeous soft yarn, leave a comment below before Sunday and I will announce a winner in next Mondays post. Don't forget to tell me how your stash busting has gone this week, I have really enjoyed your company as I cleared some space for Woolfest! Next Monday is the last one before my trip and I would love to finish with a gathering together of all the projects which have been started and/or completed over the last seven weeks...if you would like me to include what you have done please email me at mousybrownshouse at googlemail dot com and let me know what you would like included (photos, links, Ravelry, Flickr, blogs etc) and I will try and show all the handmade goodies we made...
