Just two years ago I wrote my first post. It was a fairly unexciting day for everyone else but I still remember the butterflies (which were in my stomach not just on the screen) and the feeling of adventure which pressing the publish button gave me. To celebrate that event and all that the two last years has meant to me I wanted to do something special. Something that summed up some of the best bits of what has happened and was as inclusive as possible for everyone who visits this space.
After a lot of thinking I have decided to host a Special Second Celebration Swap. Any of you who have been here a while will know my love of Snail Mail and receiving things in the post and from your comments I think a lot of you feel the same way. So instead of a giveaway to mark the event, I want all of you to join in and that way as many of you as possible get to take part and celebrate along with me!
The swap is for everyone, whether you have a blog or not and where ever you are in the world (you must be willing to post worldwide). What ever you send must fit in a standard A4 envelope (this should keep postage costs down!). Items from your stash are fine and at least one thing must be handmade. Reduce, re-use and re-cycle are all words I hold dear, so get out those old worn sheets and create something exciting for your partner. The swap is to celebrate two years of Mousy Browns House so all items should be themed around Celebrations, Two, or mice.
Use your imagination and do whatever you can imagine that fits in an envelope....two knitted socks using stash wool....something silver - buttons, ribbon, fabric....pairs of anything - prints, paintings, wash cloths...cakes - recipes or cake inspired sewing....candles...gift wrappings....a little mouse doll....some mousy felt....those were just some of the ideas I had, I bet you can come up with even better!
Sign-ups start today and will remain open until the end of the month, I will email you details of your partner as soon as possible and then your swap envelope must be sent by 22nd October. I will partner you to the next person on my list so the sooner you join -up the longer you get to make your items. To join in email me (mousy browns house at googlemail dot com) with your name, email address and location (just a town/ country at this point) and I will forward them to the next person who joins up and their details to you, you can then communicate between yourselves to get postal addresses and for any special requests.

- Please only sign-up if you really do intend to send an envelope and if having signed up it becomes obvious that it won't be happening, please let me know so I can sign your partner up with someone else. It is really disappointing to put a lot of effort into your package and not to receive anything in return.
