As you might have guessed from the title, today is my 300th post and after a chat with my good friend (and loyal blog reader) Emma, I have decided to celebrate with a giveaway! The prize will be the little hand-stitched brooch you can see above.
It is approximately 2" in diameter and has two layers of linen cut from a doily carefully enclosing a layer of felt and a circle of blue cotton. The blue peeps out from the eyelet holes and is complimented by some hand dyed blue silk thread and a little mother-of-pearl button. To make entering a bit more fun I thought I would issue you with a challenge....
....this is the triangle scarf I started last week with my hand-spun yarn. I enjoyed it as this project so much more and the needles were clicking so fast I thought they might catch fire. The simple shape allows the colour and texture to shine and I decided to add the crochet edging (in contrasting hand-spun) to finish it off and give definition.
I would like to add the instructions for this very, very simple design to my Ravelry page but I don't know what to name it. So I have decided that the person who comes up with the perfect name for my scarf design will win the brooch. The giveaway is open to anybody, anywhere in the world and whether they write a blog or not. The judges (my!) decision is final and will be based purely on how well the name suits the project....remember it is hand-dyed, hand-spun, includes knitting and crochet, it was a second chance make and it is so easy that even a beginner could make it with no difficulty. Can you think of anything that fits? Feel free to spread the news - I can't wait to hear what you come up with. Leave your suggestions in the comments and I will pick a winner at the end of March....Good Luck!
