Back in April I took you for a walk in my favourite local wood (they used my photo - yippee!) - a wood we had helped to plant and have enjoyed watching change and grow over the last 10 years. While walking there the other day it occurred to me how much different it looked in its Summer garb and I thought you might like to come for a walk again.
You can approach from the road but our preferred route is through the big field and over the style.
I love the welcome from The Woodland Trust, it is so nice to be invited in at any time.
The heat is intense and the sound of birds, bees and insect life fills our ears.
There are no gaps between the trees now and the only paths are those cleared by the Trust. The contrast of hot brown grass and cool green shade is extreme, on the surroundings as well as our skin.
Native flowers and fruits are everywhere, Elder, Cherry and Rowan. I can hardly wait to see how it looks in the Autumn - will you come and stroll with me again then?
