Before we went away at Easter, I made a special pillowcase inspired by my Spring Picnic quilt and bag. I didn't have a chance to show you then so I thought I better catch up now.
I used a vintage pillowcase as the base (the twin of the one I used to make my shopping bag), I love the colours and the spring like flowers and I felt it complimented the quilt perfectly.
I sewed some large patches of leftover fabrics from my bag and quilt onto the base and then added the embroidered doily.
The 'flower' motifs were already on it and were the perfect colour. The quote is a Zen saying and I felt it summed up exactly how I wish to feel lying in the grass, on my quilt, in the sun. I stitched it using a back stitch and some beautiful spaced dyed silk I had been saving for a special occasion (I think this warrants it!).
I sewed the doily in place using the same silk, taking advantage of the holes in the edging of the lace and I am really pleased with how it turned out.
It travelled all the way to Cornwall with us and on the way back I think a few other 'people' agreed with my opinion!
