I love crochet and actually find it more relaxing to do than knitting but I am totally hopeless at following a pattern and don't have a clue what any of the stitches are called. If someone shows me or I work out what to do using my trusty crochet for children book - I can carry on the same stitch for ever and ever, happy as a pig in muck! Show me a pattern though and I start having palpitations at the very sight of it!
So I am particularly proud of the garland I have made with rainbow coloured crochet hearts and I truly believe that if I managed to make one then almost anybody else will be able to do so too.
I found an easy pattern here and started to crochet. Book of instructions to hand, and explanations of stitches in my lap. A lot of concentration was involved to start with but it didn't take long to get the pattern memorised and then there was no stopping me.
I started with no real plan in mind but after a while I decided that a rainbow of hearts would be lovely. I made three hearts in each colour and linked them together with a chain stitch.
It was a great way to use up all the little odds and ends of yarn I have collected over the years and this is one Valentines day project that I think will be left in place for the rest of the year.
Still time to join in with our string bag knit-a-long - have a look here if you fancy having a go!
