The brooches that I made for my giveaway have finally arrived safely and I can now show you what I came up with for the two special winners.
The first winner was Kate from Marmalade Moon. She requested a purple brooch and I was very happy to comply.
I was so excited when I found this special vintage moon shaped button in my collection, it just seemed so perfect for her (although I've never seen marmalade that colour). I think she was equally excited when she received it!
The second winner was Amy at Elemental. She wanted reds and oranges in her brooch and I found a lovely gold metallic fabric which fulfilled that request while also seeming appropriate for someone who is such a talented metal worker.
I also chose her vintage button for the same reason, it has a mother of pearl centre and metal surround.
This was what I was working on when we had the Family Crafternoon. I couldn't show you then (although you might have spotted it next to the boys sewing machine if you were very sharp eyed) as it was intended as a surprise. I love this way of using up precious scraps of fabric and have great fun choosing the perfect button for the centre. I also love the fact that they are so individual - I couldn't repeat the design even if I wanted to! Each one is a one off made with one person in mind - I hope each of you enjoys wearing them as much as I enjoyed making them.
String-a-long sign ups still open - don't forget to have a look!
