My second quilt completed.

I am back to sort of normal, after a day spent enjoying life with my favourite big boy.  So here are the photos I promised of my second ever quilt - a Christmas quilt for my little one. 

I have to say that this was one item that I couldn't move to a 'might do' list, having completed his big brothers, it would have been impossible not to have one to give my little one!  So it is relief as well as pride I feel as I show you the finished quilt.

The design is similar to my first one, the embroidered panel in the centre, with the words he knew on that date. 

Instead of squares surrounding the centre, I pieced together strips, into one long line and then sewed that around the edges to get the desired size.  I put them together totally randomly and used a selection of fabrics recycled from clothes he had worn when he was little.

It is backed in a wonderfully soft, brushed cotton fabric, I managed to find when I went out with my husband last week.  It was on sale and only cost £2 a metre.  I have added a label with details of the quilt and when it was finished (his brother's has one too!)  and despite the fact that I definitely wouldn't win any prizes for my patchwork or quilting ability, I am enormously proud of these two quilts I have made, using mainly recycled materials, which will wrap my boys in my love whenever they use them.
