A week ago I took part in a wonderful one day workshop, run at our local guild, by Katie Weston of Hilltop Cloud. I went along not really sure what to expect, with an image "that made my heart sing", some hand carders and a spindle... and came away with 100g of the most gorgeous, squishy tempting fibre that I had created, with Katie's help, in colours inspired by the image I had chosen.
The day started with an interesting and informative talk by Katie and then, after a brief pause for coffee and cake, we moved onto the hands on section!
# We chose fibre in colours pulled from our image
# Hand carded a sample to see if we liked the colours we had chosen
# Spun the samples on a spindle (don't look too closely at that spinning...)
# Then once we were happy it was drum carding time!
I enjoyed every moment and love the fibre I got to bring home. I definitely now NEED a drum carder and ideas for new colours keep turning up around every corner...how about this one from this morning?
