My Granny Square sampler was finally finished on Christmas day...the last stitch completed just as the clock struck midnight. It has been my companion in one way or another for the whole Summer and Autumn and it feels appropriate somehow that it should be finished in time to keep us warm this Winter. It was completed using only yarn I had, mostly ends of balls from other projects, some that I bought to make a cardi that was very quickly frogged and some unravelled from the same project made by a friend. I love to look at all the different colours and picture the history behind them and the fact that not a penny was spent and that all that waste yarn found a home, makes it seem even more special to me. It was a great way to learn some new crochet stitches and to push what feels safe and I would recommend you having a go if you have some odds and ends of wool and a bit of spare time...all the squares and instructions are over at Blair's blog and you can jump in and take it at your own pace any time you fancy!
