We left home at lunch time on Friday and drove through the spectacular scenery of Lancashire and Cumbria to the small village of Cockermouth where Woolfest was taking over for the weekend. After a walk about and a delicious starter at an Italian restaurant we were ready to take part in the Friday night 'Giant Spin In'.
Our fingers and toes froze in the cavernous hall of the Livestock centre but we were warmed by the friendly chatter, mugs of tea and energy of the spinning going on around us (I am still glad I wasn't wearing a kilt!)
Saturday was full of colour, inspiration and wool of every description ( fleece, yarn, felt, sheep, rabbits, goats and alpaca). We met up with so many people we knew and met many others we had only read or heard about....we sat and knitted and drank coffee....we listened to traditional Cumbrian singers and watched the clog dancers....we ate cake and most of all we bought the most gorgeous and amazing yarns, patterns and even needles and a drop spindle.
I thought it might be a good idea to record here what I bought and the patterns I plan to make with it, as otherwise all the good intentions I had not to just add to my stash might end up forgotten and abandoned. So expect some pictures over the next couple of weeks (yes there is that much!!) and then there will be no escape - you can all remind me what I said I was going to make and ask questions if it doesn't materialise!
First though, I will be back tomorrow with pictures of my finished crochet project which I am wearing as I am writing this, can't wait to show you!
