Recently I overheard a conversation about the benefits of one 'Christmas' air-freshener over another and was amazed. To me there is nothing more beautiful or evocative than the natural fragrances that fill our home at this time of year.
The spicy smell of gingerbread hearts hanging from the beams and above doorways....
...joined now with a generous and fragrant gift from a friend, adding the mellow tones of beeswax to the overall mix.
Hanging decorations, filled with lavender, cloves and cinnamon adding a spicy note to the fragrant aroma of our fresh cut tree.
With open fires, baking and cooking smells, candle wax melting, bowls of quinces, the zest of clementines being eaten and the peel drying on top of the stove it is hard for me to think of a time of year more filled with sensory overload. What about you? Which smells do you make sure you have at home at this time of year?
